Meet The Doctor
Dr. Ashley (Doles) Ritchie
The Ohio State University
Born and raised in Chillicothe, Dr. Ritchie graduated from Chillicothe High School then attended The Ohio State University for both her undergraduate (Bachelors of Science in Health Management) and Doctorate of Optometry (O.D.) degrees in 2009 and 2013 respectively. After graduating, she practiced at private practices in Raleigh, North Carolina and West Palm Beach, Florida before returning home to open Chillicothe Eye Care and provide care for the people of southern Ohio.
“Caring for patients and their eyes is truly my passion. I had a congenital eye problem that went undetected until a school screening at age 6, which required surgeries and very thick glasses and contacts to correct. Further, while in high school I learned that my family has an unrelated hereditary condition that can lead to permanent vision loss. Because of these unfortunate circumstances and the great care that we received, I knew that I wanted to be an eye doctor and help others to maximize their vision.”
Dr. Ritchie lives with her husband Jeff, a fellow Chillicothe native, and together they have a son Cooper, daughter Naomi and dogs Raleigh & Ollie. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, exploring the outdoors and cheering on the Buckeyes!
She has taken over caring for Dr. Jim Schaefer’s patients after he officially retired in 2021.
